156 Days To Go!

I mean it's Philly. Go Birds. Go Fightins.

Sarah and Cassie's Favorite spots:

Places to Go

The Barnes Foundation: Spend an afternoon taking in this extensive collection of Impressionist, post-Impressionist, and modern art.

Old City: cobblestoned and charming in a very Colonial America sort of way. Visit Independence Hall, stand on its historic steps, and say something like, "I'm gonna steal the Declaration of Independence," in your best Nic Cage voice. While you're at it, check out the Liberty Bell, the Betsy Ross House, and Elfreth's Alley, one of the oldest continuously inhabited residential streets in the United States

[More to come on the Philly Art Museum and the Rocky Statue, the Schuylkill River Trail, etc]

Places to Eat

Café Ole: site of many a Sarah and Cassie breakfast date. Great coffee, shakshuka, bagels and schmear, sandwiches, crepes, and general Mediterranean fare

Khyber Pass Pub: Southern-style bar food, good beer selection, great nachos

Double Knot: cocktail lounge, a sushi bar, and robatayaki beneath. On the fancier side of things.

Zahav: Incredible Israeli restaurant! We only got to eat here once. We still talk about the hummus. In fact, we've made the hummus!

Please note: Reservations are a bit hard to come by! Check out their process at least 1-2 months prior to your trip if you want to give Zahav a shot.

Monk's Cafe: Belgian brewpub with a great beer selection and (among other offerings) duck sandwiches

The Ranstead Room-: Speakeasy with great cocktails. She's moody, she's spicy. The lighting is low enough you might need a flashlight. But, like, in a good way.

Reading Terminal Market: If none of the above suffice, or, if you really, really can't decide what you're in the mood for, check out Reading Terminal Market! It's a huge, enclosed, public market with all kinds of food to try. Some of our favorites include...

Hershel's East Side Deli - Pastrami, corned beef, and brisket sandwiches for days

Kamal's Middle Eastern Specialties - shawarma, falafel, mezze fries, refreshing smoothies

Flying Monkey Bakery - Fruity Pebbles rice crispy treats. A Cassie staple.

And many, many more...

IMPORTANT: If the Birds win the super bowl, our wedding will be the day of the parade. We will be going. It will be crazy awesome. Plan accordingly.
